The daily email

When you use the signup form, this website sends your email address and the page where you signed up to beehiiv, the service used to manage and deliver Daily Cup of Craig Coffee. A confirmation email may ask you to verify that you want the letters.

When the service is still checking a signup, the form holds a short-lived encrypted receipt for up to ten minutes. It lets this site check that request without submitting another subscription. The receipt is also stored in an essential encrypted cookie for the remaining part of those ten minutes, so a reload can restore the address and reading choice. It is never put in a page address and cannot unlock the book. A completed signup clears it. You can remove it from the signup-check page or clear browser cookies. The website does not keep a separate subscriber database. Subscription records, email delivery and unsubscribe requests are managed in beehiiv. Use the unsubscribe link in a letter to leave the list. Beehiiv may also record delivery, opens and clicks, depending on the publication settings. See beehiiv’s privacy policy for its own processing.

Requests through an assistant

An assistant may request Daily Cup only on your instruction and with the address you choose. Reading creates no subscription. When assistant signup is enabled, the website keeps keyed email and connection digests, request identifiers, timestamps and neutral receipts to prevent duplicate requests and limit abuse. Receipts can be replayed for 24 hours; operation records are removed after seven days by hourly maintenance, subject to service availability. The website does not store your email in this operation table. Beehiiv still manages the actual subscription. These receipts do not prove inbox confirmation.

Book access

After beehiiv accepts your signup, this website sets an essential, signed browser cookie for up to 90 days. It contains the access expiry and signup status, not your email address. It lets the server unlock the book pages and downloads. A pending newsletter subscription still requires confirmation for the daily emails; book access begins when the signup is accepted. Unsubscribing does not remove an already issued book-access cookie.

To remove book access from this browser, use the button in your book library. Clearing browser cookies also removes access. To restore access, use the same email on the book-access page.

If this browser cannot retain book access after an accepted signup, the form temporarily keeps an encrypted lookup receipt for up to ten minutes. It is used only to restore access through the existing subscription, stays out of page addresses, and cannot itself open a book page. The access check returns only whether this browser has valid book access.

Reading preferences

Saved articles, your place in the book and your text-size preference stay in this browser’s local storage. They are not sent to a server or automatically shared between devices.

Type on the page

The site requests Roboto and Comic Neue from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to that service to load the font; a system font is used if it is unavailable. No font file is required to read the content.

Hosting and request information

The site is hosted on Replit. Hosting infrastructure can process connection details such as your internet address, requested page and time of request. The application uses short-lived hashed request identifiers to limit repeated signup attempts. It does not log signup email addresses.

The application includes no advertising pixels, third-party analytics or analytics cookies. Replit's serving infrastructure may set a routing cookie such as GAESA. It is separate from the book-access cookie. The signup form also uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check for automated submissions. Cloudflare processes request information for that check. External videos open on YouTube when you choose their links.
