# What did I say when I wanted a moment to finish?

By [Craig Coffee](/craig-coffee)

“Can you give me two seconds and then I'll stop talking?” I used those words in a group conversation when I wanted a moment to finish my point.

I said thanks, then went back to the person I had been speaking to. I was explaining why I regarded getting their point across as a win. I finished that thought and said I would stop talking.

## What did I say after asking for that moment?

I came back to the point I wanted them to hear: “you got your point across.” Then I explained how I had given the good speaking experiences more room in my own thoughts.

That is an actual moment from one of my conversations. I asked the group for a little time, returned to the point, and brought my turn to an end.
